LAURO DE FREITAS DISTRIBUTION CENTER IS ALREADY IN OPERATION

The new Mercado Livre Distribution Center is already operating in Lauro de Freitas, in the metropolitan region of Salvador. The operation started last Wednesday (26) and should positively impact the entire region, including the municipalities of Camaçari and Simões Filho.

This is Mercado Livre’s first distribution center in the Northeast. The company received institutional support from the government of Bahia, through the Secretaries of Economic Development, Planning, and Finance. The start of the operation has led to the generation of at least 500 jobs.

With an investment of approximately R$ 90 million, the construction work was executed by Construtora Andrade Mendonça and has received the LEED environmental certification, and is being carried out in a 226 thousand m2 area,  generating approximately 400 direct jobs. The total built area exceeds 56 thousand m², while the preserved area totals 91,658.85 m².

Despite the difficulties imposed by the pandemic, Andrade Mendonça was able to maintain the construction schedule, following all the sanitary protocols to protect its collaborators. With this, the first stage of the work was delivered on time.

The operation at the Distribution Center will follow the Fulfillment model, in which Mercado Livre is responsible for the entire seller’s marketplace logistical process, from product inventory to post-sales. The objective is to enable same-day or next-day deliveries to Salvador and RMS.
